SeekerLocate™ extends the reach of LBS to non-GPS handsets, and enhances location services for users with GPS handsets. For Service Providers that have been frustrated by the limitations of GPS, SeekerLocate™ is an intelligent, real-world solution that delivers accurate localisation in virtually any environment.
Service Provider Benefits
By extending localisation to non-GPS handsets, SeekerLocate™ creates a larger revenue opportunity for the service provider.
- Localise served content, such as web, directory or map search results, to maximise its relevance and value
- Deliver location-specific push advertising
- Deliver zone-based alerts or advertising
- Geographically track assets and/or people
- Location-enable social networking services
- Provide geographical security services, such as emergency subscriber location
- Collect anonymous activity data to establish subscriber movement patterns
- Deliver navigation services that work indoors
Accurate Localisation, Comprehensive Coverage
By combining three radio technologies, SeekerLocate™ works indoors, outdoors, in the CBD, underground, in vehicles – anywhere there is a GPS, WiFi or cellular network signal. Even in areas where GPS is available, the solution can enhance user experience by always delivering an immediate location, followed by a location with greater precision once GPS signal acquisition is complete.
If a handset moves from outdoors to a location that shields GPS signals, SeekerLocate™ utilises cellular and WiFi measurements (as available). Where two or more signal types are available, the observations are combined to deliver the best location fix possible.
Distributed Processing: Minimal Network Impact
Instead of relying on a live poll of the subscriber’s handset from the network – which can consume valuable network resources – the SeekerLocate™ client running on the handset captures live radio measurements at the handset, and either calculates location locally, or sends measurements back to a central server.
This handset-centric architecture results in a system that is much more accurate than Network Cell-ID, and has a massively scalable architecture.
